There is a coffee shop near our home which is also a coffee roaster and seller of coffee machines and equipment.

So, Wifey and I thought we would try real coffee, to get away from the chicory mixes we got in the supermarkets.
Wifey is more civilized, but I am not big on the tasting culture. I still struggle to understand why people buy wines that taste like a “hint of leather” when they can much cheaper just lick a leather belt. Or why you would buy anything with a “hint of black currant and a wiff of blueberries” when you can buy currants and blueberries at the fruit shop.
Heavenly Coffees is near our house, so we tried their coffee shop and restaurant where we were met by Thabo. He told us a little bit about the coffees they stock, and the effect of the height above sea level on the taste of the coffee.
I actually tasted the difference in the coffee blends and the coffees that were supposedly grown in different countries and different heights above sea level. So, I suppose I am not a complete lost cause for the culture.

Eventually, we spent more than an hour tasting weak coffee, medium coffee, strong coffee, all with a patient and informed Thabo in attendance. We only tasted coffee, but you can order waffles and light dishes in the unpretentious roastery restaurant.
Heavenly Coffees stocks coffee, coffee equipment, coffee machines, traditional commercial coffee machines, and automatic coffee machines.
Heavenly Coffees is a true family business founded in 2012 by Francois and Elsabe Dreyer. Their daughter joined the business to make it a truly South African family business. They offer 14 different coffees from single origins, blends, and specialty coffees, and guarantee that all their coffees have been roasted less than 14 days before you purchase them.
